Alwyn Smit Debbie Lang

Alwyn Smit has 18 years experience in investment banking including work in Treasury, Derivatives and was Managing Director of First Derivatives, a division of First National Bank Group, South Africa. Subsequently he founded and was CEO of Decillion Limited a boutique risk advisory and proprietary trading company. Alwyn relocated to Switzerland in 2001 to spearhead their initiative to acquire broking operations and develop services in Europe similar to those supplied in South Africa. He is now pursuing his own business initiatives. He has a B.Comm LLB degree in law from the Stellenbosch University and in Economics and Investment Management from the University of Johannesburg.

Deborah (Debbie) Lang has been qualified as a Jersey lawyer since 1989 and was a partner of one of the Island’s leading law firms from 1991 until 2005. She retired from private practice in January 2005 following a period of six years as the law firm’s managing partner and four years as managing director of the law firm’s trust company. Since leaving private practice, Debbie has continued to work in the legal and offshore finance industries by advising on management and strategic issues in a number of the island’s law firms and trust companies. Debbie has held a number of non-executive directorships and has also been a Jersey Audit Commissioner, Chairman of the Jersey Education Audit Committee, founder Chairman of the Jersey Childcare Trust and a member of the Tourism Development Fund Sub Committee.

Ali Naini is the founder and Managing Director of Turquoise International, an FSA regulated and authorized company specializing in corporate finance for energy and the environment. Prior to Turquoise, he specialized in project finance and privatization at Close Brothers, Robert Fleming and Price Waterhouse. He holds 1st class honours and masters degrees from the London School of Economics.
