I entered the Bank of England in 1972 straight from university and cut my teeth in the now forgotten Exchange Control Department. My roles subsequently included supervision of the London Metals Exchange and as an official of the Banking Supervision Department (Licensed Deposit Takers). I also spent a lengthy period in the Bank of England’s Overseas Department due to my language skills (I speak fluent English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese and Arabic). I moved to Switzerland in 1990 to become a Director of a private trust company where I headed the client relationships team. I was also appointed a director of associated licensed trust companies in the British Virgin Islands, Mauritius and Turks & Caicos. I joined the Geneva Branch of the Basel Trust Group on 1st January 2010.
